Our Story

“We all can dance when we find music that we love.”

Our journey began with a startling realization…

Despite exploring numerous schools, we could not find one - public or private - that holistically met our daughter Ameya’s needs. Out of an unwillingness to compromise on what we consider cornerstones in education for EVERY child – high expectations, a sense of belonging, a healthy mind and body, and joy – Beat Roots Academy was born.

Ameya, a silly, loving, bright kiddo with cerebral palsy, is our inspiration, co-creator, and founding student. The name of our school is inspired by one of our family’s favorite children’s books: Giraffes Can’t Dance. At the end of the book, Gerald the Giraffe says, “We all can dance when we find music that we love.” It is our hope to provide students with the foundation to find, love and honor their own beat in life, giving them the confidence to step into their full potential.

Beat Roots opened its doors in the fall of 2024.
